"Imagined by Moleskine, generated by AI" Dunno, seems bad to me.

As Eddie Robson (@eddierobson.bsky.social) puts it: "This does seem like very poor judgment for a company whose entire customer base is people who write and draw by hand."

Yeah, they can get bent with this nonsense. There are much better paper brands out there, anyway.

FWIW, there are details in these images that strike me as odd enough that you wouldn't expect a professional artist to include them. Places where the art breaks symmetry (like the base of Sauron's tower, or near the top of Gondor) and designs that almost look consistent, but not quite (the anatomical differences between the two Nazgul-birds).

Looks like Moleskine has removed the "generated by AI" text from their front page. They've also stated that AI was only used to enhance the backgrounds of designs made by actual artists: stationerynews.net/moleskine-l… though I don't know how much that clarifies.

@lrhodes I am calling bullshit on that myself; in the past, when they have collaborated with human artists, they've named them. So.

Naming the artist(s) does seem like an easier way to put this to rest.
