The last time I posted this I had some Zionists out themselves and get angry, so to be crystal clear I will repost it. I will always be a voice for the oppressed and for those less privileged than myself. Even if it costs me infosec clout.
it's my main complaint with most people in tech. They think by being "apolitical" they're avoiding having to acknowledge oppression, but really they're just backing oppression
The red triangle is a symbol of Hamas, with which it marks their "enemies". This has nothing to with supporting suffering Palestinian civilians, it shows support for a terrorist organisations. Hamas oppresses any opposition in Gaza mercilessly and even tortures and kills their own people (you don't have to believe me, you can google it). If you want support Palestinians, there are better ways to do it.
I just disagree, and I'm sad, not angry. To be clear, Netanjahu is a racist, and what's happening in Gaza is no war but annihilation and genocide. I have no problem calling that out. Neither do I have problem with (armed) resistance.
But the Hamas is not that armed resistance. Just because they're also enemies of the IDF does not make them resistance fighters. They *also* target civilians disproportionately, they cruelly execute even those, who are for a free Palestine, if they happen to be fine with Jews. Most importantly, they suppress their own population – they're just oppressors too.
Many of these symbols are explicitly not used by Palestinians but people affiliated or cheering on Hamas, some of them being Palestinians too. They're signs of intimidation against any Jewish community and this is something I and friends with witness more and more often. Hostility against Jewish existence. Against people daring to speak Hebrew. Against people who just happened to be born in Israel, at a time, where their parents birth place just seized officially killing Jews at

I can be for resistance. But calling the Hamas' actions resistance is just as wrong as calling the IDF's terror a "defense" or even "war" except for "war of total destruction".
It's okay to be mad at Israel and its leadership, but I disagree with hating Jews. It has basically spread to Jewish conspiracies now, including the blood libel. People are not intellectual enough to differentiate things. At the same time, I can barely spell, LOL. I have seen it transition, from hating Bibi and the government to it extending to the Jewish religion. I have seen TikTok videos where they claim the rabbi for a New York synagogue being accused of blood libel.
One moment its the jews the next it is everybody. Mob intelligence isn't very intelligent.
Though im not accusing you of anything just chiming in.
Saying that anti-Zionism is anti-semittic, is in a way fairly anti-semittic. Those who equate judaism== modern-day-zionism, they are in my mind calling judaism a genocidal religion. *They* are the ones disrespecting jews, not you.
@DukeDuke it is deeply troubling how few people can recognize the difference between the majority of very decent Jewish people globally and a few violent ACTUAL MONSTERS usurping the religion to kill kids.
@claushoumann this is such a … ridiculous thing. Still so many people unable or unwilling to see a horrific power imbalance being used for the worst kind of cruelty. And unable separate it from a religion or even a nationality.
I'm always a bit confused. What is the definition of a Zionist to you? To me, it is someone who believes in the right of Israel to exist. At this point I would not see a problem, yet I always hear this word in a hateful way, which confuses me. I seriously hope I get something wrong here and we are talking about different things.
