Tangentially - I was horrified to read that Telus is using AI to mask call center worker accents. Talk about degrading...

Different accents and different phraseology is half the fun of talking to people that don't have the same background as you.

Wow, so much misguided effort there... It's bad enough that no one is fooled when you get someone with a thick Indian accent who has been forced to assume an American-sounding name.

"to reduce accent related friction" - if I ran a business, I'd reduce that friction by finding different customers.
