It appears LG is no longer going to produce Blu-ray players.
I didn't realize Samsung already stopped offering them.
This leaves Sony and Panasonic as the remaining major manufacturers selling Blu-ray players.

You having trouble with steaming? I use it practically every day for something.
The only time it sucks is when the internet is down.

I own a lot of digital content, none of which has disappeared yet as far as I can tell, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. I know it has happened to others, but upon researching, it appears it's been for niche content or vendors that have ceased operating and don't have a way to transfer licensing to another content provider.
So far content I've purchased that is no longer available for purchase, is still accessible for me.

Technically Amazon Prime videos and movies you own on Prime can be downloaded.
I've never tried it.
Sounds like you need the Prime Video app to view offline content.

It appears there's some sort of digital validation from the viewing app.
But also you can view content while in airplane mode.
It's not entirely clear how long that content lives and is viewable after being downloaded.
