I'm using @rartsy as my travel diary. I looked into Pixelfed and vernissage & my own embedded galleries—I liked gotosocial best. I'm still embedding the RSS feed onto my site but I only know how to display stubs. I like having my own site for referring others to: Romex.rartsy.com

It's a bit convoluted but at least I'm not using any mainstream commercial site. (And because of that my normie friends won't see any of it! 🙄)

Wouldn't you know that after I commit to using @rartsy for my travel diary i discover an issue. It's easy to post from & looks great from FediText, the app I use. Gotosocial does not handle videos properly when I access it with my phone's web browser, which is what my normies will be doing. Sigh. Oh well. I guess the promise of the web is impossible. They'd probably rather I be on a mainstream app & that's not gonna happen. They can join here maybe some day.
