At first view I want to say the shorter it is, the harder... But I'm also wondering if something in the middle like 20 min is maybe the hardest because it's in the middle. But also 45 min is really annoying to rehearse..

45 min is hard to rehearse but easy to make, whereas 5 min is hard to make but easy to rehearse.

5m is a fun blitzy talk and I love to hit the timer, 45m I can get ready to stop with like 10m to spare, 20m and I set up a bunch of stuff I can't finish and im always going over

10 min a.k.a. abstract talk at society conference. Too short to explain all the detail required, too long to do in what's now called flash style. I used to dislike these when I was a trainee.

Also, society members used to vote on whether to accept your abstract after your talk (to add to the stress) with you stood there. Once had the satisfaction of replying that I didn't want mine published after they voted to accept it.

ha ha. That unpleasant memory unfolded as I typed my reply.

Most conferences I go to see to pick 10 or 12 minutes as the talk length - too long for an extended abstract. Too short for any real detail.
