Listening to the brilliant @pluralistic talk about facebook as the canonical example of #enshittification, I suddenly remembered how we all ended up with an account on it when it publicly launched: by way of a massive, annoying and abusively repetitive spam campaign from them. You remember those emails? "Your friends are on facebook, see what they're doing" or something similar. There was no way to stop them coming.
