Mixing/mastering production folks... question! I'd sure appreciate some advice. This is the loudness for Ogdimora "Prudence" as you'll find it on all the streaming services. If you listen to it next to nearly EVERY other metal song on Spotify, it's not as loud. But I look at this loudness data, and I'm confused... what looks wrong here? Why is everyone else streaming louder than me? Any advice would be extremely appreciated! #Metal #SymphonicMetal
just a guess (I’m no sound engineer!) but if I’m reading it right, you’ve over-compressed, and Spotify is reducing your loudness to -14, meaning your track will sound flatter and less dynamic than “well mastered” tracks (ie specifically mastered for the platform). @biggusmickus thanks for the response! Yeah I've done tons of learning, but clearly still have a long ways to go. The track has barely any compression on it though, so I'm not sure. The weird part though is why would Spotify reduce me more than others? I've got some kind of dynamics issue for sure.
