I am usually celebratory when targets are hit inside Russia, but this morning I am not.

During the night, Ukraine has managed to strike several targets, which is great. But it appears there are fires in two different Wildberries logistics centers. One in Kotovsk, Tambov, and one in Elektrostal, Moscow.

The problem is, these are 24/7 operations and young civilian workers work in these facilities. Some of whom may be hoping for a better life without Putin.

While I understand how some may at first see this as a victory, I would caution that not every Russian is a Putin supporter.

Civilians dying in Russia is in no way helpful to the cause of bringing down Putin and his regime. If anything, it gives Putin a chance to rally his people by presenting these fires as proof that Ukrainians are terrorists.

I tend to agree with that. However, Russia is killing innocent civilians, including (very) young children and Putin doesn't blink. He just pushed for more destruction, especially in Eastern Ukraine. Total disregard for civilians already in a difficult position. Putin can only really be stopped in 2 ways: He's dead/killed, or the population lynches him with the same result.
From the young people that died (if so) some would probably already be picked to be sent to the front, where they probably would not survive for more than half an hour. The consequence of that would be another wave of 'picked' workers being sent to the front. Putin couldn't care less. Only if things get really personal for him, he might finally blink. It's harsh, but I prefer Russians to die over Ukrainians. Wildberries is located close to the Kremlin. I'm sure Putin's aids sanitized the view from Putin's windows to avoid him seeing the smoke. So he's still ignorant of what happened. He will get reports stating that minor industrial facilities were hit. He will order more missile strikes on Ukrainian civilians.

@Scubyw if the was deliberate, it was a bad decision to do this. It does not help to get dragged down to the level of Putin. Beside that such moves could help to increase support for Putin.

@prefec2 It was a good decision. And it was obviously deliberate. If you fight a bastard that does not respect Human Rights law, nor the rights of civilians and especially children, any means to achieve the purpose of ending this war ASAP is allowed. You cant be nice to bastards. The Russian public has for the majority supported Putin, have cursed Ukraine and many have called for Ukraine to be wiped off the map. When facing that kind of aggression and hate, you can't tie your arms behind you back and just fight with your mouth and kick up a bit of sand. To survive, you have to adopt at least some of their least brutal means of defending yourself. Bombing warehouses used for dual purposes is something Russia has done from the start. It is time for pay back.

@Scubyw and dual use objects are fair game in war, a justification that russia has been using to validate their bombings on Kramatorsk's train station, Kharkiv hospitals, Mariupol, Odessa's port, etc., even if there were no military uses at all (hospitals are non-combatant objects through and through, civilians in train stations aren't valid military targets, grain boats aren't military objects, a theatre filled with women and children with "Children" written on top of it, etc.).
@prefec2 I didn't hear these cries when russia bombed Nova Poshta logistic hubs, DIY companies or shopping malls, for example. @randahl

Let me tell you something from my early life experience.
I'm a small guy with a corruptible family name. After years of being abused and bullied, I started to play rugby, I was good, I was fearless amongst the big forwards.
First and only time in my 70+years I started a fight in response to previous bullying..

I was dirty.. I hit bellow the belt, I went "lower" than the bullies literally and morally .
The bullying stop!

I think you're projecting your own mindset on the Russians, but you have a vastly different background.

Russians are trained to stay out of politics and live their everyday lives. As long as they can do that, Putin is safe. To endanger Putin's war effort, disrupt their normality. The fuel blockade is a great step in that direction. Everyone's packages burning works too. Or mobilization. Or internet outages.

Putin does NOT want some kind of war spirit awakening, he keeps jailing the people who are trying to make it happen.
