The operation that used pagers and walkie-talkies to kill members of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah was diabolically clever. And there are certainly those who will argue it was justified given Hezbollah’s history attacking Israel with rockets.

But hiding explosives in everyday objects makes them booby traps and in almost every case, using a booby trap designed to kill is a crime.
