Two new high-profile studies add to the increasingly worrisome picture of how even mild cases of COVID-19 can have detrimental effects on brain health.
so, "IQ" is kinda bullshit but it DOES validly capture changes within an individual
but other things uncaptured are also altered
eg. losing a sense of small, apparently neurological (olfactory bulb), doesn't likely change performance on an IQ test
brain mass isn't intelligence but again a change in brain mass is indicative, and there's (statistically) brain mass loss
you may have heard about how Toxoplasmosis doesnt just carry risk to pregnancies, but also changes personality, increasing risk appetite - not just in mice, so they get eaten more by cats to pass it on, but also in humans. bmcinfectdis.biomedcentral.com… among easy to find results.

One thing that is common to most humans is a shift in cognition over time. We get a bit slower, decade after decade, after our 20s. "A study of people with mild to moderate COVID-19 showed significant prolonged inflammation of the brain and changes that are commensurate with seven years of brain aging" scientificamerican.com/article…
These are off the top of my head and I'm annoyed with myself because while typing the above I thought of several other relevant results which I then forgot before writing them out. I mean. I could go pull from my (or from Augie Ray's) bookmarks. The evidence is staggering. The cognitive impacts are at a scale - and possibly a magnitude - similar to lead in water and fuel in previous decades. Unbelievable until the third or tenth scientific result showing more and more evidence.

And that's just on cognition!

"wow have drivers always been this bad?" - NO! But now over 90% of people have had COVID!
