We've successfully upgraded our Mastodon server to v4.6.0-alpha.3+mementomods-2026-01-24, along with Mastodon Bird UI 4.0.0-alpha.0-4.
This update includes today's latest daily build with 107 new commits from upstream since alpha.2 (2026-01-11).

Mastodon Bird UI 4.0.0-alpha.0-4 is still a work in progress in the nightly branch. It's not 100% ready, but it's stable with today's Mastodon alpha.3.

I just selected "Mastodon Bird UI (Dark, Stars)" and it looks like this:
Do you have dark or light scheme enabled in your system? I'll test this once more...

"But what is the difference between "Mastodon (Dark)" and "Mastodon Bird UI (Stars, Dark)"
Mastodon (Dark) is the original Mastodon core theme. Not Mastodon Bird UI.
Mastodon Bird UI (Dark) is the Mastodon Bird UI default that uses hearts instead of stars.

in reply to Roni Rolle Laukkarinen • • •@zotheca Oh, yes I figured it out. Only English and Finnish have translations for the default theme which is "Mastodon Bird UI (Dark)", which that actually is. You see the "Mastodon (Dark)" option lower, use that to switch to Mastodon core default.
So this works correctly already, just the translation is wrong.
