TIL that on #Meta platforms now one can write terrible, offensive slurs against LGBTQIA+ folks and immigrants… with zero repercussions. But the second one mentions a #Fediverse project like #Pixelfed, the post is automatically removed.

Meta “moderation” policies in 2025: racism, xenophobia, transphobia, homophobia and sexism are allowed; mention of competition is strictly forbidden.

it's really sad. Facebook is how I keep up to date with lots of family (and other non-political groups) who don't use any other social media.

It will be sad to lose those immediate connections, but maybe that just needs to be done, in order to cut ties with toxic platforms.

Zuckerberg has always allowed hate speech on his platforms, and has always punished those who tried to stand up against it.

I’ve lost count how many times my FB account was suspended for calling out racism, bigotry, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, etc etc.

Twitter bans any account that mentions Larry Ellison's role in Jan 6.

Oracle's Twitter account was very twitchy on the subject.

Hey @dansup did you see this? Meta is blocking people from linking to you! You've hit the big time! 👏

EDIT: Oops, sorry, I didn't realise it was a link to your own post! I'm on Tangerine UI which makes it a bit less obvious and also I am an idiot 😅

@FediThing Yeah I did, I think that's a good sign!

Btw, keep an eye out for my latest post, I'd love for you to take over the RespectfulPlatforms.org initiative if @liaizon declines that position.

Something like this is too important to risk bias from one of the pledge platforms.

Let's chat soon :)

Someone should make a post which contains both terrible offensive slurs and mentions Fediverse, pixelfed and mastodon. Then if it gets removed raise alarm and outrage that Meta censors free speech, wrt offensive slurs and immigrants. Best if it then gets picked by MSM.

Dat is de reden dat ik nooit op FB of Insta zat. Het is hartstikke racistisch en de moderatie ook. Wat wil je ook anders met de joodse racist Zuckerberg?
in reply to Elena Rossini ⁂

Tzz, yea, Meta at its best🤦🏻‍♂️

In such cases I am always thinking: how can some Streisand Effect be activated to turn such policies against them?
Like finding a certain metaphor, code or way of spelling (Fediverse links etc) - funny, catchy or whatever - that evades autoblocking while at the same time creating even more attention and emphasis to the subject matter 🤔…
Tricky though.

Also hope such cases eventually help the last ppl to understand that Meta‘s not about free speech at all.

Zuckerberg is full onboard the lying about free speech while stifling the expression of perceived enemies -train. He went to Mar-a-Lago and Joe Rogan to pledge his loyalties.

And it was disguisting to watch 🤮

I’m pretty sure that there are laws in every country in Europe to punish these hate speeches ( and the editors of these publications. )

It is time to ban shitter and meta in Europe.

Unfortunately, Meta is apparently going back to the state from before 2016. But while this isn't exactly news, it comes with other major change. For the first time (I believe so) billionaires supported politics in power openly and publicly. Before 2024, they used to do it from the back seat. We'll see if they change their politics again for the next elections in 2028.

The hypocrisy from Meta is off the charts.

Mark Zuckerberg is just like Steve Huffman banning anyone who mentions the alternative.

in reply to Elena Rossini ⁂

As a thought experiment: Write a terrible, offensive slur against LGBTQIA+ individuals and immigrants AND mention #Pixelfed in the exact same sentence.

Is it still deleted?

I am dealing with C-PTSD from 2017. As a trans-human, I am dealing with a full decade of being a poster-child (sic) of all the fears from them that think gender is endowed as either/Or Male/female duality. Yet we* are not a threat to the continuing of the matrix of breeding for warfare and building castles with big moats and high towers. The Powers want borders between each subject in their Kingdom of The Book. Selling ads. Selling Souls to a continuance of life away from the Garden which we were lured to adventure from seeking the "Promised Land" Now it's Mars. #FuckMars

It reminds me of moderation in China. Criticism is ok, but organizing competition to the Party is forbidden.

And I will continue to refuse to apologize for openly speculating on the astonishing level of denial and/or stupidity exhibited by the masses who keep whining, sniveling but STAYING engaged with billionaire slime. They ALL suck shit: #X #Meta #Instagram

That's been going on for years. I've tried linking to my Mastodon page over there and my post was deleted because Fecalbook sees it as a malicious link. This is especially chilling when you remember that Meta has deals in multiple countries that makes access to their malware not count towards bandwidth usage.

in their policy, Meta gave a bunch of examples of slurs that are now ok. I’d like to try the example slurs with choice words swapped in for transgender instead. Like:

“A republican person isn't a he or she, it's an it," and

“Conservative people aren't real. They're mentally ill,” and

“This whole Christian thing is made up. Those people don't exist, they're just in need of some therapy”

See how long that lasts.
