“This month Tesla switched Full Self Driving (FSD) on… as far as I can tell, every single car. It’s normally a five figure software-only upgrade. But usage of the feature has been low, perhaps in part because if you’ve spent $40-90,000 on a car, spending another five figure sum is annoying, and perhaps in part because people generally value their own lives and the lives of the people they love. So now, for this month only, it’s free, and Tesla can juice their numbers.

And, yes, I tried it.

And let me be clear: nope. Nope nope nope nope nope nope nope.

I’ve rarely been so frightened behind the wheel of my own car.”

Craig Nicol reshared this.

Wow. Just wow. An in particular, this wow:

"All I needed to do was enter a destination into the navigation and pull the gear stalk down once (as if I was simply changing into another gear), and off it went. Autopilot, which is what Tesla calls its cruise control feature, is engaged in a very similar way, so I can see a world where a driver might even switch it on unintentionally."

@espanabizarra I would like that feature just to park the car and walk away while it is doing it. But not really sure how would it really work out… :ablobdundundun:

from the man that says that knowing someone's location is "assassination coordinates". 🤔

Just sitting here admiring these two sentences: "Fear on this level seems like a pretty poor use of $12,000 or $199 a month. You can rent a horror movie for $2.99, and paying attention to America is free."

Not so much admiring the Tesla FSD. The nopetopus is noping out on its nope-rocket faster than the speed of NOPE!

@kaasbaas if you crash, #Tesla have no “skin in the game”. They won’t die, they won’t be held liable. Think about how hard they have to try to make it safe - really not that hard

Even more frightened than when the youngsters drove it for the first time and one sitting on the passenger's chair. 😂
Like "conduite accompagnée" in France.

So it was not even one of those "We almost died, but had a lot of fun about it." experiences, I take. Damn all those tech bros motherfuckers who are running Natural Selection on their AI with people along for the ride (to the graveyard).

my buddy said it was like letting grandma drive. Very slow and cautious. Said he still wouldn't pay for it though.

zz

"I'd rather pour vinegar into my eyeballs" has to set the standard for reviews of the Tesla FSD "feature".

Time to launch my super shockingly bright infra red brake LED kits for motorcycles.

Im test driving a model Y tomorrow. Have no intention of buying FSD option, but prices have dropped and the model Y AWD qualifies for full incentives here in #BC. Call me Tesla-Curious....

There is already autopilot for road trips so not sure I understand your comment on road trips. Autopilot comes with the 3 and costs nothing extra. In any event, I would not pay for FSD as I see little benefit in town.
