Answer given by Ms Zaharieva on behalf of the European Commission
(24.3.2025)
1.The total requested EU contribution to Israeli entities in signed grants since the 7 October 2023 is EUR 298 150 419, 00. However, this figure might not be exhaustive since data from European Innovation Council equities and from the cascading grants (European Institute of Technology) are not yet available.
2. The bilateral relations with the State of Israel continue to be governed by the international commitments undertaken, in particular the EU - Israel Association agreement on the participation of Israel in the Union programme Horizon Europe!. This is not currently envisaged to change. The Commission will continue to uphold the EU position on the situation in the Middle East as expressed by the European Council in November 2023 and March 2024, and will remain vigilant to ensure that beneficiaries comply with the applicable legal framework, including the provisions of the Horizon Europe model grant agreement and the guidelines on the eligibility of Israeli entities.
