Apart from Europe and California (thank you both for your early service) nearly every country that has adopted renewables has done so for energy access or energy security.
While the Israeli-USA Iran war may still turn out to be an existential event to the world economy, if it can be navigated through without too much suffering it will probably be the biggest boost to global renewables deployment ever.

in reply to Aral Balkan • • •@aral Accelerating deployment in the global south is exactly one of the wins, it could be so much faster but countries are still deciding.
But any national leader who was thinking "Hmm, maybe gas is an option" is not thinking that today.
There is an enormous number of very cheap solar panels and batteries that can be shipped out today and deployed in months to start securing them against further shocks.
