"The rise of the brosphere, the manosphere, was a funded effort. It did not come out of left field. You know, you have... the Kochs and other very special, large special interests and very, very wealthy interests who are funding these. So it's not organic. No, it's not organic."

☝️THIS 🧵☝️ is exactly why I do not trust #BlueSky . This recent push of so many accounts joining at once and the INorganic feel of the movement, combined with the #MAGA money funding the platform and the #Crypto scammer who owns it...

It all just adds up to trouble down the road-- for all of us, on or off of BS

BlueSky's MAGA owners are making it seem like a "safe space" for Liberals now, but I am dead certain the plan is to use it to spread political disunity and disinformation down the road.

I am especially worried abt disunity beginning there & working its way across #SocialMedia . Republicans and MAGA only win when we do not unify and vote together. It's how they won in 2016, how they won this year, & how they plan to win in the future.

Trump did not make huge gains between 2020 & 2024. The problem was a lack of unity behind Harris.

If they can sow enough discontent on the Liberal side, then MAGA can walk in the door unchallenged.

@AnneTheWriter1 The rush to BlueSky has surely been interesting to watch. I'm not on BlueSky and haven't felt any impulse to go there. But it's clear there's a big move there from X after the election, isn't it?

It looks that way. I'm over there. Have been for around 14 months, but it has little to do with politics. I trying for a professional community that just isn't present here, at least not yet.

I'm not blind to the issues OR the potential problem. It could happen. Very well might. But I survived it before and would probably survive it again. My issue remains that it's currently my only realistic alternative. I love Mastodon, but it doesn't fill the necessary gap for me. I loved Twitter--way back in the day. For a long time it was very effective for what I needed. Perhaps this can be the same, at least for a while. 🤷‍♀️

@HistoPol I read it couple days back & can think of many things more embarrassing. Anymore it's 2/3 impossible to twitch a finger in the USA economy w/out more of the same. When I find an online forum where similar or worse isn't true--yet still gets me the professional community I need, I'll be all ears. My reasons for being there are entirely different from being here. Multiple work probs already solved in 5 days w/that as a tool. I'm done discussing Bluesky.
