For those of us foreseeing that "things are going to get very bad," Sherrilynn Ifill offers some valuable pragmatic tips about surviving:

"• Save some cash. And keep enough in the house for gas and food for a week.

• Let yourself imagine what you would do if you lost your job in terms of finding new employment, paying rent/mortgage for several months, and start building what you need to be able to meet that moment if it comes."

@hacks4pancakes Wow hadn't even thought of that or the variety of reasons why the system might fail to work and/or fail some people. I was wondering how your prep was going though.

Oh, right. Yes. I'm retired so I was looking at places where a non-working person could just worm their way in. Like buy a house there or some such.

@lambic @Nonya_Bidniss @trans_rescue other people need them more. I think I can survive until April, even if I have to sleep on floors in Canada.

@hacks4pancakes @Nonya_Bidniss director here - got to NL, they wanted a birth cert for DAFT, getting a copy of mine would have been complex (it was changed long ago, state law forbids changing but wording leaves me in limbo). I explained this, the Gemeente worker went away for 15 minutes and I had my BSN.
CJIS might be same sorta thing, depending on the whole story. Drop in office hours.
