Is this problem already fixed in the develop version or is it a problem with my server?

@Marco R. Dev user here - I can confirm that I could follow @FediTreffStuttgart , so if you use Dev as well, it could be a problem with your server. Set your server logs to "info" level, attempt to follow the account again, set it back to "warning", and then send us any suspicious lines you find.
