Yes, bubbles create volatility. Yes, investors lose money. Yes, employees lose jobs when companies fail. But the alternative is underinvestment in transformative opportunities.

Fucking ghouls

in reply to ghost_laptop

basically, large capitalists will buy up the assets from failed companies and make bank

And then get bailouts on top of it.

They won during the inflation of the bubble, they win by getting the inside view and some limited control on the bubble bursting (thus, privileged opportunities to react and profit from the burst at minimum), THEN their very important companies get bailed out and escape the well-earned consequences.

It's win-win-win, and everyone but them pays the price, pretty much no matter what (with minor exceptions, maybe, if shit goes truly off the rails - from their perspective, by my measure, we're already there of course).

There's of course ALSO legalized gambling on trivial up through disturbingly poignant world events of all kinds, via Kalshi and Polymarket, both of which have the same member of the crime family on their board of advisors (read: Ouji-boarding the biggest bets for very good fukfuk). Shaping world events, or just shaking out the dumbest of the dumb dickheads playing? squints

There's of course ALSO publicly stated, State-legitimized-at-root money-laundering, directly consequential bribery, and various other shades of mutual-criming available to anyone with the bucks, via crime family cryptocurrency (-currencies). Shaping world events [we can't even begin to fathom let alone scrutinize], or just shaking out the dumbest of the dumb dickheads playing? squints-ier

There's of course ALSO...

[apologies, I'm now in fact dead 🤷‍♂️]

They still think they’ll have collateral without an economy and they can buy up all the pieces for cheap and “rule” the ashes.

No, the banks will call in their loans to you once your stock isn’t worth dick and you will have to sell all your assets to the Saudis because you let the petrostates continue to exist instead of making real investments like devices to pull FREE ENERGY FROM THE SUN.

You could have made your stupid LLM toys independent of foreign energy ichor but your net worth is entirely fake and so you HAD to flow your profits to the REAL stakeholders, you baby dick losers

I think the question is "what will happen" not "what will Trump do".

They can't fathom that the US empire might legitimately collapse and take the exorbitant privilege of the dollar with it
in reply to Grapho

even if it were to fall, they would still be in charge and that's what they care about.

Hmm the article doesn't actually say they're rooting for it to collapse, it just says they don't mind if it collapses
