I think the ocean keeps your winters milder @Simon J Ashcroft, just as Lake Michigan keep things warmer for those who live on the lake. I’m just far enough away that it doesn’t help me, but then those who live on the lake get lake effect snow, so it evens out.

Is the Atlantic current we're to fail, as is postulated, the UK is likely to see winters with considerably harsher conditions
in reply to Katherine Bond

Another ice age might be triggered. Might sea level drop to the edge of the continental shelf?
in reply to Katherine Bond

Not in the great scheme of things, 008. It's been a good few years since the last prolonged cold period, here. Yes, there were cold days, but hardly anything in the way of snow. I recall complaining about cold mornings, but I'm not a morning person at the best of times.
in reply to Katherine Bond

Same here, not a morning person. We had a mild winter last year, but this one is coming in with a bang. They’ve now upped the total expected snow tomorrow and Sunday to 10-14”. 😮
in reply to Katherine Bond

We are expecting a little snow tonight. I put my car in the garage. I don't know if there will be enough for the plow guy to bother with or not.
in reply to Katherine Bond

My car is in the garage and I’m really thankful that I don’t have to shovel what’s coming.
in reply to Katherine Bond

We just saw a weather report for us that predicts 2 to 4 inches tonight and temperatures around 30 and moderate winds. I'd call that a gentle introduction to winter.
in reply to Katherine Bond

Yes, I would too. Maybe our weather forecasters will be wrong, but they all agree.
in reply to Katherine Bond

I think I've drunk enough whisky tonight to keep me unfrozen for while. Maybe no coherent, but anti-frozzed...
in reply to Katherine Bond

They all agree. Does that imply that they are egregious?
