Republicans win House, delivering Trump a trifecta

thehill.com/homenews/state-wat…

Well, great. Full-fat fascism it is, then. Trump will basically get to do whatever the fuck he wants for the next four years (and maybe for as long as he lives).

In case you were wondering what the worst possible scenario looked like, seems we’re all going to find out in the next four years and beyond.

We’ll also see who the first ones to don the Hugo Boss uniforms will be (neoliberals, stop pushing, there’s enough for everyone) and who our real friends are.

Take care of each other and resist, resist, resist!

Let's hope his cognitive decline precludes his term lasting the full four years, although I dread to think how that would be dealt with by his coterie of billionaires/useful idiots. Space Karen would probably insert one of his exploding brain chips. Would anyone notice?

this is actually the bigger danger. it's not him that is the problem, he's just wildly flailing around and spewing nonsense. generally bad, but in the tactical sense.

the coterie around him have plans. that's much worse, they're gonna dismantle the democracy even further. we're looking at china and russia as really bad for, say, human rights etc. while US was going in the direction, and look like erdogan's turkey or orban's hungary, it's still a vastly better place, I believe. But once these guys implement their imigration policies and racial purges and give permissions to corporations to just shoot the worker activists and union leaders outright, it's gonna go waaaay worse.

I really hoped the sane half of the US will massively vote and get the opposite (dems in full power). I have no idea why they were like "I don't care", but in retrospect, I'm also not that surprised.

Although I am concerned and disappointed. This election will again have reverberations way beyond the borders of America.

@zlatko I've taken my eye off the results - are the GOP in control of both houses and the executive then? Shit. He's going to go full tilt for the Unitary thing (ie monarchy in all but name) isn't he. Project 25 was terrifying enough as it is, but Space Karen adds a whole other dimension of grim.

"as long as he lives" a heart attack couldn't happen to a more deserving guy

What worries me isn't what's happening in the US (they voted for it, after all). It's how the rest of the world will cope with unlimited fossil fuel burning, and a potential power vacuum in Europe if London, Paris and Berlin don't get their acts together over Russian aggression.

The Palestinians will be all but wiped out, and that evil will be a stain for centuries.

Will Taiwan be invaded by China? Seems likely, and that's a catastrophe for a democracy that's showing how better to do it.

And you are against getting to the bottom of key issues of our nation why?

And to think I felt bad last night about staying up until after midnight playing XCOM despite needing to be up a scant 6 hours later.

There’s talks that not long after he’s been brought over the finish line, the U.S. will have a President Vance.
