I think Macron assumes his signature look makes him appear contemplative and statesmanly. All I see is a scared little constipated schoolboy who knows full well he has royally screwed the pooch.
I'm much more pessimistic about that. I think he knows perfectly well what he's doing and that this is his ideal government. In the last elections after the dissolution, I sincerely believe that he wanted a far-right victory. But the French decided otherwise and he had to slightly modify his plans to achieve the same result, justifying it by the absence of a majority.
