Just heard from someone who works at Wowburger that the company takes any gratuity you leave on the payment machines.

So, if this is true, it’s illegal in Ireland. Not to mention, a dick move regardless.

Anyone in Ireland know the Wowburger folks and/or where I can lodge a complaint about this?

@aral: in some bigger store chains in Poland (mainly Carrefour and Auchan) you are also asked to give a small tip (typically from 1 to 5 PLN, the tip is calculated upon your grand total for groceries) – officially for ”charity” purposes but God knows how the money is actually used.

Need to take a deeper look into Polish laws, because these ”charity” tips smell fishy to me at best.
