“Apple is only continuing to patch iOS 18 on devices that can’t run iOS 26.”

Wow. So not only has Apple lost any design culture it had, it also doesn’t give a shit about your security either any longer. This is the mother of all dark patterns right here.

Anyone know if this is the same for macOS?

been following you for years and this is the first time I see you "on the verge" of ditching macOS.

So my question is: do you think Linux is ready to take "us" on? And if it is, would you go mac running Linux, or would you ditch Apple entirely?

I recently started running Fedora on a 2019 MacBook Air to see if abandoning macOS is feasible. Haven't tested enough to have an opinion yet.

@niccolo Ah, my primary dev machine was running Linux for five years but this was the final straw that made me go back: ar.al/2024/06/23/fedora-has-be…

🤷‍♂️

@niccolo well, Fedora isn’t Linux. And Gnome isn’t either. You have options.

Apple's design culture they had and which was pretty good one back in the days, sadly died long time ago, together with the passing away of Steve Jobs.

@RosaCtrl Yup. I’m planning on installing UBUNTU on my old Mac. Looking at e-OS for phone/tablet and either Mailbox.org or Tutamail for mail/Calendars etc

I don’t care that much if my phone looks ugly. That’s not what deters me from upgrading. I don’t want AI. I don’t want my phone’s performance to suffer, forcing me to trade it in for a phone with AI.
