Important to note that *Texas*, not Houston, did this to Houston schools. Greg Abbott removed the democratically-elected local school board on a flimsy pretext and installed his own stooge to impose this on the community.

HISD has seen significant staff turnover since Miles' appointment, with more than 10,000 employees leaving as of June 2024 Not surprised - before taking this position, he founded a new chain of charter schools in Colorado, Texas, and Louisiana called Third Future Schools. Third Future schools consist of 11 public charter schools.

Why we need national accreditation standards to get federal money. In fact, the state's university research money should be dependent on 100% of the primary and secondary schools being accredited.
