Coming soon… Streamiverse.

A curated streaming fediverse post API compatible with the Mastodon API for use in teaching, demos, presenting, etc. Basically, if you were using the Mastodon public timeline API for these use cases before it started to require authentication, this will be a good alternative :)

@matty No, it’s a curated stream of Mastodon posts. You add links to posts and it streams them in a loop. So you can consume it when making a WebSocket demo or just get the public timeline for a HTTP call/JSON demo. Useful when teaching web dev, for example.

But what you describe wouldn’t be difficult to build with Kitten (kitten.small-web.org/).

(Streamiverse is built with Kitten and is very simple.)

TIL that some Mastodon servers require authentication even to get a public post by API.

@Aral Balkan Does it only work with local content on instances with the Mastodon API?

If so, that excludes any and all content from Fediverse instances without the Mastodon API, e.g. Hubzilla, (streams), Forte.
