This is a very good video from Bernie Sanders about why it is really important to vote for Kamala Harris next week, even despite disagreements on Gaza:

(via @rmondello)

TL:DW - Trump is far worse on Gaza, Trump is Netanyahu's preferred candidate. And there are other issues such as climate change where Trump is threatening the entire planet. Rich will get richer, poor get poorer and world will burn.

Honest question from someone living in Europe:

why is the israel-gaza conflict such an issue in the us election campaign?
Or is it only a big issue among Bernie's followers?

Nonetheless, as always, Bernie looks like the only sensible politician in the US from a European perspective.

Sure, but the video is addressing exactly this. Trump doesn't even want aid going there, Trump just wants Netanyahu to go even harder with military strikes and to "finish the job", and says Harris doesn't support Netanyahu enough.

Whatever happens now, by his support for Netanyahu Trump is proudly signalling it will be worse under him.

As well as that, the entire political environment would be more dangerous and closed to grassroots pressure in a Trump second term. There's more on this from @jess at:

If she plans to be different on Gaza, then why does she go out of her way to insult Palestinians and Arab-Americans every time she talks about it, even though doing what they're demanding would actually win her votes?

I don't know, and I have no way of finding out, but if Trump gets in the situation will be much worse.

This is a chance to prevent the situation getting worse. If you don't vote, you're passing up that chance, putting Trump in power and the people of Gaza will suffer an even worse fate.

This is not about choosing who you like, it's about choosing which situation is preferable. Trump's situation will be worse in every way.

Harris is far more susceptible to pressure from those concerned about Gaza. There would be a path to pressure Harris. No such path would exist with Trump.

It's your choice, but your choice will have consequences.

Sitting it out will have consequences too. If you do nothing, someone else will pay the price for that.

This isn't a comfortable situation to be in, but it's where we are. Saying you're "not buying it" doesn't stop it being true.

Think of it this way:

Netanyahu wants Trump elected.

If you don't vote, you are making it easier for Netanyahu to get what he wants.

You're the one who has a vote, it is in your hands.

Whatever you do will have an effect, even if you do nothing at all.

If Trump wins, there will be no way for you to affect his policies at all. There may not even be fair elections in the future.

This is the kind of person Trump is:

Do you want this guy in power?

We're threatening the country with a Trump election, and even that isn't changing Kamala's policies.

So either Trump isn't so bad, or Kamala, like Biden, loves Israel enough to destroy America for it.

Voting isn't about what you think of candidates, it's about the effect on other people.

Voting (and not voting) has consequences for other people, even people who don't have a vote.

If you don't vote, it will make life easier for Trump, easier for Netanyahu and easier for their billionaire backers.

If you don't vote, it will make life harder for Gaza, and for women, queer people, immigrants etc.

If you don't vote, it will make climate change much worse much more quickly.

This is all covered by Sanders' video, but you are talking like you haven't watched it. I'm not sure there's anything else to say?

You just keep repeating the same phrases ("heard it all before") without even acknowledging anything I've said.

There's not much point in talking if you're not going to actually discuss anything. You sound more like a troll rather than someone who actually believes in something?
