Pay €7.99/month for ad-free usage or pay with your data and see personalized ads? No thanks Meta, we will take neither. In this in-depth guide, we look at the best Instagram alternative in 2025.
Please stop confusing Element with Matrix. Your practice is against the alternative Matrix clients such as FluffyChat, SchildiChat and Cinny, and the free software community, which is unethical, unjust and unacceptable.
glad that my devices never came and newer will come through to insta, or tiktok, or facebook...or any other deeply bad internet actor Thanks to network wide pi-hole.
NextDNS is a great solution for those not want to selfhost DNS on dedicated hardware
I never trusted Meta, or specifically Instagram, to have encryption that actually protected users anyway. Companies like that protect themselves from liability, but they don't protect users.
I know this is a throwaway comment but I will say it anyway. Was an early adopter of FB, now I can't stand to even look at it. Never used IG, never will. No need for loops, shorts, whatever.
not surprised tbh. every few months another privacy rollback over there. at this point you kind of have to assume they will eventually remove everything

in reply to Tuta • • •Curiously, gmail sort of supports end to end encryption (excluding subject lines). The steps to enable it are:
(1) Install gpg if you haven't already.
(2) Install an email client that supports GPG/PGP and IMAP
(3) Use IMAP to connect to gmail
and the really, really hard part:
(4) get your contacts to use GPG as well.
