in this case they did well... that's all they needed.
But why don't people start using #i2p? or even #freenet? Tor is now known to be hackable.

No, #i2p does not have a dedicated plugin or browser: you have to install the software and become a node yourself and surf the web incognito.
While I2P distributes traffic over several peers in its network, Tor relies on a fixed path for load balancing. This difference makes I2P a more decentralised and potentially more secure system for certain online activities. In general, Tor is often preferred for surfing on the net, since it guarantees faster speeds and is easier to use.
