This is kinda nice! If you ever go to the #Maldives, instead of booking a super expensive resort that's owned by billion dollar companies...
..book a room with the locals!
It's in the same area but a lot cheaper and the money actually goes to the local community
Don't get fooled by ads 🌅

Outside of Malé atoll was basically local communities, with the odd guest house on an island.
Now, I see videos of sea plans landing everywhere, and private islands 😖

Waiting for the inevitable "the Dialysis clinic hates it when you do this, BUT THEY CAN'T STOP YOU!" ads under RFK.(Less kidding)

Every tropical place you've heard of has expensive resorts, mostly all inclusive with a shittle from the airport. Much more expensive than local places, all of them.
What do you get? At best, controlled experiences, safe and captive. Disneyland in the tropics, speaking English and prices in dollars.
What do you loose? Money, culture, experience.
Why do it? Real traditional travel is actually stressful and dangerous for amateurs.
