I'm considering setting up a single-user #Mastodon instance for myself using

masto.host

Anyone with experience with them? Worth trying or rather stay away?

in reply to Björn Brembs

you could also join us on neuromatch.social :)

Yes, I am still considering that, actually. Currently, I'm not yet seeing the benefits of a local timeline, but that maybe because of the instance I'm currently on...

in reply to Björn Brembs

indeed our local TL is pretty cool (particularly without boosts, otherwise it's too messy)

We also have the advantage (at least I see it as one) to be a "self-governed" instance where each user has an equally-valued say in the instance rules! And we run on an improved glitch-soc version which has #FetchAllReplies already implemented thanks to @jonny :)

You would be welcome to join and give it a go!

Interesting, I had no idea you had incorporated! Added to: codeberg.org/fediverse/fedipar…

It seems the entity is marked as inactive though. Am I looking at the wrong one? opencorporates.com/companies/u…

@nemobis
Hmm we are not the same as the Neuromatch organisation and it looks like that was marked as inactive?
The collective governance is just for neuromatch.social. Also I don't know if it has been officialized in any way and if we "deserve" to be in that list - but probably @manisha or @jonny would know 🤔

@elduvelle wiki.neuromatch.social/Bylaws (marked as draft) says "Our parent organization is Neuromatch, Inc. which is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization in the United States "

@nemobis
This is true! Neuromatch pays our bills, sponsors us, and we spawned from them, but we have independent governance and they take a gracefully light touch
