Using hashtags that are unrelated to the post itself is frowned upon here and will cause you to get muted or blocked by most.

Here, you used the Mastodon hashtag. Your post is neither about the extinct animal, nor the Fediverse software....😬

It's beneficial to only use hashtags to reach the specific userbase you're trying to reach. It's actually detrimental to use it to reach people who would probably be uninterested in your post, like you've done here.
