Maybe a stupid question - is the star enough to boost? New on Mastodon, and trying to figure out the whole fediverse thing.
Have tried to find someone who can guide us non-tech, not really into social media people, who just want SOME in the hands of other than big tech. I realise, that you have to be active, to make things work, so I will try to make it lively 😊
@Sofisen nope, the star is only between you and the poster, it doesn't make more people see the post!
Edit; actually as mentioned below, favourites do contribute to posts being seen in the "explore" tab, but I don't think they change anything to what people see in their normal feeds:

@elduvelle yeah, it's a bit odd. I guess it's still a measure of popularity.. I do like the fact that sometimes it tosses up pretty photos that people don't want to boost.
I guess jump on the github issue, and add your points if you think it's worth changing?
