Would you like to play a demo of my new game? Sure you would!

store.steampowered.com/app/437…

It's called "Burn-9," a turn-based tactical visual novel. You're the operator directing a super soldier fighting for her life in a secret Antarctic military base.

The demo is short but our game director and author, my nephew, has a very long story to tell once we're all done.

Let me know what you think! And if you find a bug, please let me know because I'm the QA lead. 😊

How is it in SteamOS? I do most of my gaming lately on a Legion Go S.
in reply to Phil Olin

@sgtstretch It works on Steam OS using Proton, but gamepad support is currently minimal in the demo. So, on my Steam Deck you have to "steer" the mouse with the right joystick.

But we'll have full gamepad support for the final version.

in reply to XCondE

@xconde Right now you can only run it on macOS by using CrossOver Mac. However, we do plan on having a macOS native version when the full game launches.

With a tactical narrative game in the same fest, very much! But looks like I have to wait for release to play on my MacBook…

(Thousand Hells is also built with Godot.)

in reply to Lisa Melton

got me all excited just to get slapped with Windows only. Will it eventually be available for Linux?
in reply to axolotl solidario

@axolotl Yes, the plan is to have it native on Linux and Mac, too.

Currently it works perfectly well if you install it on Linux and enable Steam's built-in Proton emulation layer for Windows.

in reply to Lisa Melton

didnt even know that was an option. Thanks! Ill check that out.
in reply to Lisa Melton

im sure i can look it up, but ill let you know if i hit any snags. Iv used linux most of my life but at a low level. I assumed you needed a windows emulator like wine or something like that.
in reply to axolotl solidario

@axolotl Recent versions of Steam for Linux have Windows emulation built into them. You do have to enable it from Steam settings. And often some tweaks are required for certain games to work. See:

protondb.com/

...for what those tweaks might be if you run into problems.

But many other Steam games also have native Linux versions available.

in reply to Lisa Melton

Run under Linux and I didn't found issues.

Good gameplay, did not found counter-intuitive points about the GUI or commands.

Are the in-game docs supposed to get updated during the play in the final release? In the demo as we find out what happen to the team, their status in the document tag stays the same.

in reply to Raster

@raster Thank you for testing! And I'm so glad everything worked for you. 💖

Yes, the final release will have more in-game documentation.

Hello Lisa, there is no Age identifier for Germany. There could be problems on Steam because without age verification the game is not available in Germany. I will check out the demo because it looks interesting. It would just be annoying if it is not available in Germany.

Best Regards

Wrannek

in reply to Wrannek

@Wrannek Thanks for the heads up! I'll contact my game director and the publisher about this.

Pale-face directing black-ops!

Minimum:
OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
Processor: Dual-core 2.0 GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM

I have only just enough RAM. Not sure about some of the othe requirements.

Seems promising.

in reply to Lisa Melton

Duly wishlisted! It shows as 32-bit only on Mac so you might need to tick some checkbox to say that it works on modern day Macs.
in reply to sbszine

@sbszine Thank you so much! 💖

We don't actually have a Mac version yet which is why Steam is listing it wrong. When we do, it will definitely be 64-bit.

in reply to Lisa Melton

Going to give the demo a shot the next time I have some time to kill. Good job so far :)
in reply to Lisa Melton

Sounds cool, I haven't tried it yet but I'm interested — I like visual novels. How long did it take you to make?
in reply to Ivan Kulibin

@akareactor Thanks! 💖

I only started on the project in December, but it's been in development for over a year.

I'm basically acting as an advisor, QA lead and spare coder.

in reply to Lisa Melton

Thanks for the reply!

For a project that's been in dev just over a year, it looks awesome.

I'll try the demo as soon as I finish updating my game. Wishing you both the best of luck!

in reply to Lisa Melton

wow, looks really polished. Gives some MGS2 vibes 😁
Will have a look after work.
