At Tuta Earth Day is everyday 🌍

For Earth Day, we looked at our energy consumption in 2025 and were surprised to learn that our CO2 consumption per user was 1 gram. 😍 This is amazing, especially when compared to Big Tech!

That’s great, but I don’t think you can really compare them like that.

TutaMail and TutaCalendar are, after all, just a fraction of the others being compared. What’s more, they’re very limited in terms of features.

Is this already greenwashing?

But that doesn’t change the fact that you should steer clear of the cloud giants being compared.

don't really care bout this. Deliver on the features.

@Steel_Virgin Hey! Not yet, we are planning to update our sustainability page and will include more details about this.
in reply to Tuta

@Steel_Virgin Wow this is great news! I honestly think sustainability is just as important as feature updates. I would love to take a look when the data becomes available. Keep up the good work!

Without documentation, this is just #greenwashing and only 1 g per user? How are your servers powered — by monkeys or electricity?

By electricity: your main source is, and will be for years to come, based on fossil fuels.

By monkeys: do they ever fart, and how do you transport their bananas from South America?

in reply to u2be

@u2be We're working on the documentation. All electricity we use comes from renewable resources. In Germany, you can pick energy providers to make sure it is.

I need more info on free plan deletion after 6 month. Does it mean that I have to log out and then log in every 6 month? I mean, if I create free tuta account, am I not logged in all the time? I want to start with the free plan and then upgrade to revolutionary plan, but I'll wait when you guys provide subscription over google play store/T-Mobile! I don't want to loose my free account!!
in reply to Igor

@maroje If you use the app, it's possible to stay logged in. Do open the app at least once within 6 months, just to be on the safe side. ;)
