Wasn't this mandated and announced years ago? Seems that still only a vague "soon" is given.

The best solution is to avoid WhatsApp, not to communicate with it.

I am curious why you skip xmpp protocol based apps in your whatsapp alternatives review? 🤔

well, I am using Conversations and Monocles for android.
I know Monal works fine in iOS.
For linux Gajim is a good client.
I have also installed Matrix protocol apps in my phone, like Element, so my question was a genuine one.
I am up for the best privacy oriented software out there.
I wonder what is your take on that. 👍

First I was excited because I thought it would be the solution to message from Signal to WhatsApp users but after reading that they decided against that, makes sense. But feels a bit sad somehow...I wish everyone would just use Signal.

What is the favourite messenger for Tuta? I personally used and SimpleX Chat before but I switched to Signal because of many reasons. I'm hoping for Signal to even get better in the future.

Doesn't this give Meta the same access to the data we avoid giving them by not using WhatsApp?
in reply to Tuta

Yay so soon we'll be able to have WhatsApp, Telegram, Teams, Slack, Linkedin and Facebook chat all combined into one big pot of surveillance sh*t! Happy days.
in reply to Tuta

this is basically the green bubbles trick all over again. they're positioning those third party platforms as second-class. and overall this reeks of malicious compliance
in reply to Tuta

The best approach is to steer clear of Meta Platforms like WhatsApp and use alternatives. i'm already done my side what about others?
in reply to Tuta

I hope that there will be also the option to block #whatsapp users in the other apps.... I am still not willing to share data with #meta

This is magnificent! We need to end WhatsApp's monopoly. I'm sick of having to use it because no one wants to talk on other platforms.
