Centrist politicians, which is pretty much all of those who aren’t far-right goons, continue to play by the old rules and continue to pretend that those old rules are still valid against this far-right global takeover. I’m in the UK so I speak only from that experience, but over Christmas I was dismayed to hear every moderate middleclass relative kid themselves that those same old rules and old institutions were sufficient to keep the world on an even keel.
