BREAKING: Assad's palace has been breached by joint rebel forces

As Assad cowers in Moscow, chaos unfolds in Syria

While this could mark the regime's collapse: some rebels are more brutal than Assad himself. This is far from over

To help familiarize some of you to the Syrian conflict: here are key players

Assad Regime: Led by Bashar al-Assad, backed by Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah. Controls most of Syria.

Opposition:
SNA (Turkey-backed);
HTS (led by Abu Mohammad al-Julani) controls Idlib, wants an Islamic state
Kurds: SDF, led by Gen. Mazloum Abdi, fights ISIS, seeks autonomy (which threatens Turkey)
ISIS: no intro needed
Foreign Proxies: Iran, Turkey, and Russia back rival factions.

What happens to women and girls in conflict must be exposed

It doesn’t matter if perpetrators call themselves 'freedom fighters"

Every time women and girls are carted off like property, my heart breaks—because we know the horrors that await them

R*pe and sex slavery must be universally condemned, not just with words but with severe and uncompromising penalties worldwide
