New EU push for chat control: Will messenger services be blocked in Europe?
On Monday a new version of the globally unprecedented EU bill aimed at searching all private messages and chats for suspicious content (so-called chat control or child sexual abuse regulation) was circulated and leaked by POLITICO soon after.

Do they have the slightest idea how much damage it would do to the international reputation of Europe if they were to make e.g. Signal illegal? I suppose some of them do, which is why it hasn't passed before.

Lol... They don't care. This will keep getting pushed until it is passed. Then we go underground and they will start prosecuting undesirables on as needed basis.
