In 1854 there was a Cholera outbreak in part of London.
John Snow, who knew a thing or two, plotted cases, made enquiry, and identified the source.
Then he removed the handle of the source, the Broad St pump.

Then, public health medicine got started.
Now, the court would perhaps imprison him, the GMC would strike him off, and a public health emergency would not be interrupted by direct action.

Today the commemorative pump was officially unveiled by the John Snow Society and Westminster Council. The original pump was at the centre of the famous outbreak of cholera in 1854 which claimed the lives of over 600 people in Soho.LSHTM
