#ClimateDiary Yesterday another evening walk, beautiful light again, but this time unsettling. Chestnuts almost fully formed, ripened blackberries, dried brown dropped leaves everywhere, and of course dried grass. 12th July. I mean, this really is not normal, right? Chestnuts and blackberries in July? (or was i not paying attention before; perennial question- #Phenology)

in reply to Pauline von Hellermann • • •we pick blackberries every year and it has got earlier every year. I know as we have a couple apple trees and 20 odd years ago the apples and blackberries ribened together, now the blackberries are almost 2 months earlier than the apples.
Blackberry and apple crumble is now only possible if the blackberries are frozen while we wait for the apples.
