On my way to Tucson, I ran into these guys changing a clutch while moving two Carnegiea gigantea (saguaro) cacti. The cacti were on their way to Palm Springs. Because of the need for more stripmalls & parking lots, there are lots of cacti that need to be moved. Of note, saguaros are protected, but asshats like to shoot them. The Austin Lounge Lizards wrote a song about one such asshat--who died wearing a cactus hat--David Grundman: youtube.com/watch?v=9_9LDLur5P…

Kind of sad that parking lots and stripmalls seems more inportant than nature, but at least they are not just thrown away.

Great shot!

@ambivalena Thank you! Ya, it's troubling how much growth is going on in a region rapidly dwindling water resources. And it bothers me they have to move these beautiful cacti. These two are probably over 80 years old.

I agree, it is troublesome. How old can they be? (if you know).
