This lith print has a raw, tactile presence, with gritty grain and uneven tones that feel almost alive on the paper. The scene shows an elderly man from behind, standing close to a wall covered with layered posters and announcements. His dark coat and hat merge into the deep shadows, while the lighter paper of the posters flickers with worn textures and fading ink. The lith process exaggerates contrast and imperfection: blacks bloom softly, highlights break into speckled whites, and the entire surface feels weathered, as if the image itself has aged along with its subject. There is a quiet intimacy in the moment — the man absorbed in reading, smoking, pausing in the flow of the city.
