My #SpookySaturday features another shot from St James's Church (Kostel sv. Jakuba) in #Brno – the ossuary. Unlike some ossuaries, the bones and #skulls here haven't been turned into fancy art, but with around 50,000 people buried (sponsored by plague and cholera), it's said to be the second-largest #ossuary in Europe. Rediscovered only in 2001, it's made up of just three burial chambers, but it's quite the experience.

Its in a way beautiful even though it also feels macabre, great shot!

@ambivalena@mastodon.nu Yes, I felt the same. It's good to see that it's nothing to be scared of, when it death has become such a taboo in our culture. Not sure if I want my bones to be arranged in an orderly mosaic, but then again, why not, it wouldn't concern me anymore 😅

Agree 😀 It is kind of taboo in many western countries these days, but like you I wouldn't care either when I am gone.
