Update Friendica Public Server list to a searchable database (or remove)

Dear all, to attract new FRIENDICA users, the server selection is the first barrier any new user will encounter, so the confusing, out-dated and user-unfriendly directory for public servers, of which many are not "public" (family-servers, testing, ....) will scare away many potential users. Better to delete and point to other similar services, eg fedidb.org.

What do others think?

Good point!

But fedidb.org in specific No; it's not compliant with GDPR standards and is using source code that is unmaintained or not openly publishing updates in proper FOSS ways.

Is the raw data already stored in a database one could query or does it have to be actively collected?
