#Warsaw, #Poland

Poles light flares during a rally to mark the 80th anniversary of the #WarsawUprising against the Nazi occupiers. The armed insurgency against occupying Nazi German forces broke out on 1 August 1944 and lasted for two months before it was crushed. Nearly 200,000 people, mostly civilians, died over the course of 63 days of battle, and the Polish capital was reduced to a pile of rubble.
