in reply to El Duvelle • • •10 min a.k.a. abstract talk at society conference. Too short to explain all the detail required, too long to do in what's now called flash style. I used to dislike these when I was a trainee.
Also, society members used to vote on whether to accept your abstract after your talk (to add to the stress) with you stood there. Once had the satisfaction of replying that I didn't want mine published after they voted to accept it.
