I know this is not really a Mastodon topic but would anyone recommend an "investment platform" that only invests in ecologically-friendly / ethical companies?

For example #Nutmeg (now part of JP Morgan) has a "socially-responsible investing" pot but it funds companies like Microsoft, Apple and Tesla 🙃

#Investing #EcologicalInvesting #EthicalInvesting

There is ener2crowd.com
They do crowdlending to small-medium enterprises to put up solar panels, increase efficiency of buildings, and stuff like that.

Not a platform, but you could look into ESG filtered (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and/or SRI (Socially Responsible Investing) ETF's as investment vehicles. These fonds aim to exclude problematic companies by filtering for certain criteria such as fossil industry etc. However, it's often not that easy and they may only exclude the worst offenders. And there is an argument to be made that filtering some fonds like world ETF's could defeat their purpose (diversification) - but that's personal preference.

@chris Yeah I think that's what Nutmeg uses in their socially-responsible investing but it feels like greenwashing, it still includes really bad companies like the ones I mentioned in my post..

I think @willowbl00 maybe was talking about this a while ago? Willow, feel free to yell at me if I got you mixed up with someone else.

@SRLevine yeah, happy to help out here. I highly recommend Seed Commons for this.

Just the fact that Nutmeg is part of JP Morgan would make me think they already have a cloud over them if you're talking about a pure ethical play.
