When it comes to most secure browsers Firefox and its LibreWolf fork is the best alternative to Chrome on our list - and, no, incognito mode doesn't cut it.Tuta

I saw a test in which Mullvad (even if used without VPN) came out best wrt privacy, although not as user friendly, and Brave as the best choice for most users.

I have used Firefox for a very long time and have grown used to it. However, I became aware of it desire to play with my computer in ways I didn't approve. Several months ago I began trying some of the "forks". I have settled on Waterfox with LibreWolf a close second. Most of the rest received a grade of ehhhh.
I might also mention that Thunderbird was also discarded ... Mozilla is OUT! I found Betterbird really better!

Most browsers I have tried out do way to much feature wise (looking at you, Vivaldi). This leads to having to expand too much time/energy configuring them. Because I just need basic features and don't want to speed hours turning everything off.

Baseline Firefox is extremely unsafe. Mozilla wants to be like Google now. However, for whatever reason, third party Firefox-based browsers do a whole heck of a lot better of a job of cleaning up the mess that is made of the browser they're based on. (Of Chromium-based browsers, only Ungoogled Chromium even seems to be really truly trying. Even that is severely limited... Others like Vivaldi do try to undo the bad stuff, but they still go for anything but minimalism, integrating tons of extra stuff.)

in reply to Tuta • • •I love Tor particularly; but it's not my default due to its (expected, due to the protection layers and all) lower speed
I'm currently using firefox as my primary browser, and I'm almost fine with it; there's always unlimited room for improvement, but I guess I just like it
haven't tried other ones though; except duckduckgo which didn't let me set a custom search engine (obvi?) that made me just keep my respect for it only as a privacy-concerned engine, not a featured browser

Qutebrowser doesn't come with extension support, which may be non negotiable to some. I kinda like making the bash/python scripts since web extensions to me are just inferior in contrast to full desktop applications.
